in Stuttgart Arkansas

Southeast Arkansas offers some of the best hunting and fishing opportunities in the state, with its rich wetlands, dense forests, and numerous lakes and rivers. The area is known for its diverse wildlife, including deer and waterfowl, making it a popular spot for hunters. For anglers, the region boasts excellent fishing in both freshwater and brackish waters, with species like bass, catfish, and crappie abundant in local waterways.

Bayou Meto WMA

Bayou Meto is one of the largest state-owned wildlife management areas in the nation, encompassing 33,832 acres in Arkansas and Jefferson counties.

Bayou Meto’s green-timber duck hunting is some of the best in the state and constitutes the heaviest recreational use in the area. The opening days of the season can be very crowded with 1,500 to 2,000 hunters using the area each day, with an average of 350 hunters daily during the rest of the season.

Dale Bumpers White River NWR

Dale Bumpers White River National Wildlife Refuge, located in southeastern Arkansas, spans nearly 160,000 acres and is the largest contiguous block of bottomland hardwood forest under single ownership in the U.S. It is home to Arkansas’ only native black bear population and is a Wetland of International Importance.

The refuge offers activities like camping, fishing, hunting, wildlife observation, photography, environmental education and more.

WINGS OVER the PRAIRIE FESTIVAL

Stuttgart hosts the annual World’s Championship Duck Calling Contest and Wings Over the Prairie Festival each Thanksgiving, the largest outdoor expo in the Mid-South. The festival spread across 6 city blocks in downtown Stuttgart, offers fun for the whole family with shopping, food, children’s activities, a carnival, a beer garden, duck calling contests, and more.
